So I was talking to a friend the other day about how tough women are on ourselves and she pointed out a wise comment an older than me (not OLD! haha) woman said about body image.

She said - "I wish I had seen how amazing I looked when I thought I was fat" - referencing her 20s, before kids, before whatever - just appreciating you for you at THIS moment

I thought it was a pretty simple yet thought provoking thing to say and I can totally see this happening in a few years if I don't snap out of my bad mouthing ways (towards myself!) Happy Monday everyone*

I understand where you're coming from. My mom always said the same, and she was tiny for most of her life before the hypothyroidism kicked in. She said she used to think she was so fat for having a 28" waist (She was 5'3"). Now her waist is probably in the late 30's, early 40s :/

I think when we're young, we know we're in our fitness prime & try to be the best we can be! We have really high standards. "Everything is possible! Strive for perfection!" I don't think anyone wants to have the mindset of "Well, this is the best I can do so I should appreciate it before I get fatter or saggier in 5 years." As we age, our standards start to lower as we realize how impossible some of them are or that there are things that can't be solved with creams or workouts.

At 24, I still think my midsection, buns & arms could be better. I would hope this is not the best I'll ever be. But I'm sure when I'm in my 40's or post-baby, this body will seem pretty good!
