I had surgery done in 2003 and lost 135# and looke great but now, after having 3rd back surgery last year I gained 70# back and I HATE IT! I seem to eat more at nite and less during day and yes I still crave sweets. Trying to quit the bad food and add more healthy food like kale and spinach in my shakes. Walking some but it's hard. That's all I can do since surgery. Can anyone help me? I really need advice and lots of support.

It can take up to 1 1/2 years for a back to heal from surgery. I had 2 in a row within a few weeks of each other. What type of surgery did you have? Walking may hurt, and maybe you can only do it for a short time now, but I will tell you, it's the best think you can do for your back. You need to build your back muscles up again. My surgery was in 2002. There are still times when I'm on the treadmill and my back just seizes up. I use heat and ice. Just keep plugging away at it (the walking). You will see that it does help.

Remember: You're still 65 pounds lighter than you were before you took steps to improve your health! That's a better outcome than many of us will ever achieve. Please, be kind to yourself and try to focus on the positives--you have a big challenge in front of you right now, but with patience and persistence you can re-lose the weight you've gained since your injury.

If you're eating too much at night and it's upsetting you, you can try prelogging meals in MFP. I struggled with that for a long time. It turns out that I wasn't getting enough nutrition (particularly protein and fats) during the day, and that set me up for problems when I'd get home at the end of the day, tired and hungry. I'd eat anything that wasn't nailed down, and I craved sweets like crazy.

For me, avoiding big sugar items (including fruit juices), getting a good amount of protein and fat in every meal, and spending some time outdoors every day has really helped.

    Good luck with your recovery!

Eat in a consistently in a deficit.

Kale or spinach won't specifically make you lose weight, if thst is your thought process, I'm not sure.

You really can eat any food you want if you are hitting your macros and staying in a deficit. If you have a problem with stopping when eating a certain food(eating a whole bag of chips), then it may be a good idea from refraining from that food for a time. Otherwise stay active as your body allows and track your calorie intake and give it a few a few weeks to adjust if needed after seeing your weight change.
