How long in between calorie raises?

So my weight loss is exceeding what I want and I need to slow it down, but I would prefer to not reverse course so hard I actually start gaining. So I am increasing calories, but how long to wait in between to really get a feel for if it's enough?

Have you changed you MFP goal to the new amount you want to lose per week? If so, I would eat and exercise at that setting for 3-4 weeks and see how your weight loss goes during that time, to see if you need to readjust again.1

I'd try adding close to half of the calorie equivalent of your excess weight loss.
For example, if you want to lose 2 lbs a week but you've been averaging 3.5 lbs a week (for a month or more -- not just in your first week or two of cutting calories), that translates to an extra 1.5 lbs a week, or an extra 750 calories a day. I'd add 300 calories to my daily goal (a little less than half). I'd leave it there at least three weeks to gauge the effects, and adjust again if necessary, probably by a smaller amount.4 -
Thanks! That is really helpful!0
