There is a lot of conflicting information when I research this on line. I have read many things on how grains can cause disease and other health issues while at the same time I have read that whole grains are very good at preventing disease. So what is it? just a matter of opinion or are grains really bad for you or not?

This is just another one of those huge debates. Those following the paleo diet with swear that grain, whole wheat or not is refined and poison. Everyone else usually says it's good. All I know is, any type of bread makes me bloated and crave sweets. I prefer to get my carbs from fruit and vegetables when I'm not cheating. It's up to you. EVERYTHiNG will give you cancer. going out in the sun, breathing the air, Eating anything not organic. It's exhausting. Just go with what works.

My opinion - you can find something on the internet for every single food item and how it will kill you. Whole grains are good for you! Yummy, filling, have a bunch of health benefits....

There are some specific people that have conditions that lower or eliminate their ability to digest grains. Most notably wheat. That does not mean that this effects everyone or that everyone should avoid grains. I tend not to eat bread because I'm not a fan of the texture but I do eat pasta. I have not noticed where it causes me any intestinal upset. If you feel that you could have an intolerance see your doctor for testing.

Nothing is inherently "bad" for you.

(I am talking food, here, of course. Kerosene, heroine, arsenic? All bad.)

No singular food item is going to be responsible for weight loss, or gain. Make it fit into your calories, do your best to hit your macro goals, and eat whatever you enjoy!
