BHT/BHA in foods

As a general rule, I'm not too concerned about clean eating or anything like that. I have to admit, though, that I've always been a little nervous about consuming products with BHT or BHA listed as a preservative, mainly due to the negative hype surrounding it. Since there are folks here who are way more knowledgeable about this than I am, how safe is this as a preservative? Are there others who avoid it as well?

I don't know much about BHT/BHA other than they are banned in Australia and a few other countries, which may tell you something...0
