Interval Dieting / Eating Every Other Day

Does any one have experience where you basically eat your full 2000 calories one day, and the next day only 500, and so forth?
I have read various articles, by people who did their PhD on this subject and had promising results.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience and could tell me how much they lost, if they have any tips and if they would recommend it.

How much do you have to lose? I did 16:8, aka Leangains, for a while and liked it, but recently decided to give 5:2 a chance. Going by this calculator, I'm allotted 592 cals twice a week and 2,368 the other days. The idea is to lose around a pound a week with this. I need more time to determine how well it works, but this has been easy so far.
The only advice I could give is to start somewhere smaller at first. 16:8 really helped get my hunger under control most days.0 -
If it puts you in a calorie deficit it will work. Give it a try. Personally, I would be worried about the low cal day leading me to overeat and wiping out that deficit, but people are successful with it. You just need to figure out if it's for you.1
