I never do. But only cause I feel weird exercising in a full stomach. I eat afterwards.0
-
Ps aren't the 4.30 workouts just awesome????
I love them!!!!!1 -
Best way to start the day!1
-
I do, but then again my earliest is 8 am or so.0
-
Personal choice.. I workout at 5:30 and do not... I just can't way to early..0
-
Most of the time no. I go at 6:30-7. If I shower there before work I'll take it with me. On the weekends when I go at 8-9 I might eat. Don't do anything you don't feel comfortable with.0
-
I wouldn't either. I'm usually not hungry until 7-8am anyway.0

I have at least a banana before the gym.1

I have an apple or a banana on my way there, otherwise I get dizzy.
ETA: I drink 2 cups of coffee and a glass of water too.1 -

I run fasted in the morning.
When I used to go to the gym to lift in the morning, I did it fasted. I just can't eat in the morning.
I lift in the afternoon now, and I do eat before going.0 -
When I'm hungry at gym time, I bring a smoothie with me to the gym and sip on it as I work out. I have a 24 ounce leak-proof shaker cup.1

Nope, if you don't feel like eating prior to the gym you should not.
On weekdays I'm at the gym at 5 a.m. and never eat before. I love working out in a fasted state.
On weekdays, I go later in the morning or in the afternoon, so I do eat a few hours before.

The only thing you should listen to on this topic is YOUR BODY. You read all sorts of advice on this and hear it also on talk shows. "Work out in the morning on an empt stomach so you body continues its fat burning mode from not eating all night..." blah blah. Well, I about hit the ground 30 or 45 minutes into my workout if I don't properly fuel my body for my workout.
I eat a combination of a protein and carb before any work out during the day.. or if I can eat breakfast and workout right after or lunch.. i do. But i must eat before a workout.. i'm using weight. looking fit.. it works for me.
Do what is right for you.0 -
I always workout fasted. I feel sick if I eat before a work out. It also makes me feel slow and sluggish. I start my workout between 4:30am and 6am depending on the day!0

Unless I feel like leaving a gift for the local wildlife half way through my run, I generally don't have anything solid in the mornings. I have a miso soup (helps me with salts since I sweat so much) and a berocca at least an hour beforehand, but that's it.0
-
I find I can't lift as well on an empty tank, so I generally go with something light like 2 eggs, one piece of toast, cup of coffee.
But do whatever works for YOU. It's your body.0 -
Lifting I will eat first, which sometimes sucks because I'm at the gym by 5, and have to eat super early. Cardio I do fasted.0
-
I can't eat early either and I'm up and out of the house by 6am to get to the gym for lifting. I just make sure to have a proper breakfast once I get into the office0
-
Always, at least a piece of fruit or a protein bar1
-
I have a granola bar on the way to the gym and a shake on the way out. That's pretty much it for breakfast.0
-
nope. I'm at crossfit at 5:30 and I never eat before. 1 cup of coffee and some water before and during. Then, I eat after.
I agree that you should do what feels good for you. I never eat but my husband always gets up earlier than me and eats something about 200-300 calories or so.0 -
I usually eat breakfast before I go out on my runs. But I'm also usually up and moving for an hour and a half before I head out to workout. If I were to immediately go out after getting out of bed, I don't eat until I get back (I used to do this prior to some major life changes that noe allow me to workout later in the morning).0
-
It's not that you should- it's personal preference usually based around performance. If you struggle, do. If not, carry on.0
-
I don't, I'm barely awake as it is LOL. I just have my Pre-Workout drink and then eat a protein bar afterwards.
But as previous commenters have stated...if you feel like you need it to complete your workout then yes eat. If you would be eating just to eat then I say hold off until after your workout.0 -
I don't have the will to eat before an early morning workout session. I'm still basically a walking zombie at that point. But once the workout is over, I'm hangry, so I make sure I bring something with me to eat for the ride to work.0

I do Orangetheory at 7:30am most days and do not eat before. I learned when I was young that if i eat before a hard run, I get all gross and burpy and feel like i might puke.
I do use a pre-workout. I'm not a morning person and the pre-workout seems to give me enough caffeine and focus to get through a tough hour. I went with a brand recommended by a friend who is a fitness model and recently had some health issues due to the supplements her coach was giving her. She found that this one was relatively "clean" and didn't send her vitals out of whack.0 -
I have a banana before my 6ams. I've found it gives me a quick boost!0
-
Blech. No way.0
-
Usually not, because my early sessions are before 5am and if I eat before that, I find I run out of calories and am hungry before bedtime, which sucks. If I am lifting really heavy, or dragging and need energy, I might have a protein shake mixed with water, or a single egg beforehand to pad my stomach. Never a full breakfast, though. Overall I've gotten used to fasted workouts, and I prefer them.0
