I'm female, 52, 100 lbs still to lose. Relatively healthy, capable of exercising. Down 60 lbs. I have walked a lot. Ran 5k a year ago. Able to run 4 miles and I loved it. However, because of plantar fasciitis cannot do much walking and/or run. I just joined a gym. Started Zumba. I would love to get strong and have nice muscles. I've researched SL5x5 and would love to start. Question is, should I lose more weight first, focusing on cardio or start SL now?

If you can have a good trainer check your form at weekly intervals the first month, then sure, do SL.
A better program for your age group in my opinion is New Rules of Lifting for Life.0 -
Start it now. The weight lifting will help preserve current muscle mass and add to your caloric deficit to help to continue losing weight. I also agree with the above poster. Speak to your gym about some form lessons for the movements in the program, the best injury prevention is proper form and proper weight.3
