FitBit sync with Myfitnesspal

I sent a help message and haven't had a reply and I wasn't sure what to search under if this has happened to others. I sync my fitbit HR with myfitnesspal. Yesterday I had about 5,000 steps and myfitnesspal said I had 72 extra calories from exercise per my fitbit. Today so far, I have only 4,000 and it already says 400 extra calories burned from exercise. That seems very high and I wanted to check on what I could do to make the sync more accurate. Thanks!

There's not a lot you can do. Fitbit has its own calories calculations which will give you a number in Fitbit. Myfitnesspal has its own calculations based on the parameters you enter. It estimates a calorie consumption for each day.

The adjustment you see is when the two don't agree. If you have been more active than MFP thinks you should be, you get a positive adjustment. If you are not as active, you get a negative adjustment.

The only thing you can check is if the step totals are the same on both sites. If there is a difference, enforcing a sync in MFP should bring the two numbers back into line.

Wrist based trackers can tend to over-estimate steps if you move your hands around a lot. I have a Fitbit One which gets around that by sitting in my pocket all day.
