When I first started out here in January of 08 my name was negative. Don't remember but I think it was fatascow or some derogatory name. I changed it to Arewethereyet when I no longer allowed anyone to say negative things about me, including mySELF!!

I remember being the center of attention, always the cut up...........laughingly saying I had "Hand to mouth disease" or "The only exercise I get is honking my horn as I pass the gym" or another good one was "Can you hand me that, I don't want to lose an ounce of this fatazz by walking across the room"

I had a repertoire of "I am so fat....." jokes.

Well guess what, I am NO joke..........and neither are you!! You are a beautiful human being who is trying to get healthy.

It tears me up inside when I see what some of you all are using as your 'handle' (whew, I am old........that was a reference to the CB radio days!!"

Think positive about yourself, and others will follow suit.

Please, look into your heart and find a kind, encouraging name for yourself! YOU ARE WORTH IT!!

Thanks for the inspiration! I'm only 5 pounds from my goal weight (who would have thought the 1st 60 pounds would be easier to lose than the last 5!?) but lately have found myself frustrated, bored with my workouts, unmotivated and more tempted than ever to revert to my old eating habits. Because of this (and my husbands never ending sweet tooth) I've been doing little things like writing fat *kitten* all over the packages of things I'm trying not to eat. While I have been behaving and avoiding these things thus far, my attitude has gotten terrible and I find myself getting snappy and resentful - esp. toward my husband who can eat anything he wants and still drop weight like nothing. Reading your post this morning reminded me how important a positive attitude is and what a big role it plays in reaching your goals. Today, instead of writing fat *kitten* on the tub of ice cream he brought home last night I'm going to write something that reminds me of how far I've come and how proud I should be. Thanks for "positive monikers" - and for reminding me that this is something I WANT to do and can enjoy doing!
