Does MFP carb count include fiber?

I'm trying to lower my "net" carb intake slightly (to 40%) and I'm not sure if the indicated total daily carb intake in my diary includes fiber grams or not?

Where I'm from fiber grams are never counted as carbs on the label, but I've heard in the US they're usually are. I really want to understand what my net carb intake is but the US system seems avit confusing.

Yes, it does. Net carbs = total carbs - fiber.

US labels provide carbs (and then lists below that how much fiber there is) In MFP Carbs and Fiber on the diary are separate. You have to figure out net carbs manually..

Totally depends on the entry. US labels include fiber in the carbs. UK, Australian and a great number of other country's labels are already net carb. So depending on who entered the information and where the label is from, it's anyone's guess. This is the main reason MFP would have great difficulty rolling out a net carbs feature.

So in the diary itself the carbs and fiber are separate? This is what I wanted to know! I mostly use non-US entries, so I should be fine. I just need to be attentive and avoid US entries for generic foods like veggies.

Yes it is (you can set fiber show on the diary if you need to by going into diary settings) However each database entry that has been provided by other members will contain the details from that particular label (US, UK etc,) .. Sometimes you might even see someone that has created an entry that says (Net Carbs) and just for example below (I pulled one randomly)..

    Quaker Oatmeal - Quaker 1 Minute - Net Carbs, 1/2 c uncooked
    150 (cals) 19 (carbs) 3 (fat) 5 (protein) 0 (sodium) 0 (fiber)

    Quaker - Quick 1 Minute Oatmeal, 0.5 cup dry (40 g)
    150 (cals) 27 (carbs) 3 (fat) 5 (protein) 0 (sodium) 4 (fiber)

you can add net carbs to your search (for example Oatmeal 1 Minute Net Carbs) and it will pull that into your search..

Most entries are user made. So its not MFP really. If the user is from UK the fiber carb calories are not included.

You have that backward methinks.... If you put in an entry by scanning with your phone and it has 10 carbs and 5 of those 10 are fiber MFP will show 10 total carbs. The fiber is not removed. I'm Keto and I have to manually do the math for veggie fiber.

    That's very helpful! Thanks!!

Well, I live in France and the labels here don't count fiber as carbs so if I understand that right, it won't be counted as such in the MFP diary either when I scan. For veggies I now search I the in the database using the french name and it doesn't seem to count fiber a carbs.

No it depends on the entry and point of origin

Many countries separate fibre from carbs on packaging so create a new food in U.K. or France or Australia and it will differ from US

And you have no way of knowing the country of origin of the MFP entry you choose...so always check

    Coucou!
Use google to check your food.
I entered pain de seigle and it shows the amount of fibers.
In mfp go in " my food" then create food using the Google information.
Sometimes I use the information of the product for calories, fat, carbs, etc but I complete with Google for vitamins and minerals.
