Question about weight gain?

Sorry for the stupid question but I am confused about gaining. I weighed 87 pounds on Tuesday. However I just weighed myself today and the scale said 89 pounds. I don't mind the gain but I want to gain in a healthy slow way. I just started my meal plan Tuesday afternoon. My goal is to gain .5 pounds a week. So am I gaining too quickly? Should I be concerned or am I just being silly?

It's likely just a fluctuation...your body weight is going to fluctuate all over the place...you have to look at the trend over time, not so much the weigh in to weigh in numbers. It's way too soon to determine anything.0

Weigh yourself daily, track the weight on a spreadsheet or app like trendweight. After a month you will get a good idea about your weight trend. Daily fluctuations of 3lbs are not uncommon and for me, after a re-feed I have gained upward of 10lbs. This weight is just water and not fat.1

Thanks guys, just new to this process. Until recently I have never tracked my weight.0

I thought I was gaining too quickly at first but it was just fluctuations and it's slowed down a bit now.0

Just like weight loss, weight gaining isn't a linear process. There are many factors that will come into play: glycogen levels (more carbs = more glycogen stored), sodium level, increases in food digestion, and water retention from exercise.0
