Asiana Airlines to sue TV station

Not only were the names incorrect, but they appear to have been part of an offensive, and some would say obvious, prank.

"Sum Ting Wong," "Wi Tu Lo," "Ho Lee Fuk" and "Bang Ding Ow", were the pilot names the station said had been confirmed by the National Transportation Safety Board.

How could a news station do this? What are your thoughts?

Condolences to the family and everyone involved :flowerforyou:

Wow, using a fatal air crash to make fun of a racial group!! Taking about stooping low!! I'm not opposed to the use of humour in caricaturing certain serious incidents but there are certain lines that cannot be crossed! I think in this case the station certainly crossed the line!!

Being that the names were confirmed by an NTSB intern, since fired, I don't know that a suit will do much good.

The TV station should of picked up on this. I am sure that those names went through 3-4 people before ever making it to air.

I agree they should have known better. Kinda hard to miss, if you take more than a passing glance at the names. I just don't think they have much legal standing for a suit under the circumstances.

That's really offensive. I don't feel sorry for the intern for permanently destroying a career with the NTSB.

Not sure the television station has a total defense against suit regardless of confirmation.
