Intermittent Fasting - should I do it ?

I looked into it a few years ago when I was losing weight and having just returned from 4 months in the states & Europe I have put on a good 10kg ! Is someone able to give me the pros and cons ? and maybe some helpful tips ?
also if I'm eating 1200 calories (to meet my goal weight/date) and I burn 1000 calories per day in exercise, do I then eat those 1000 calories on top of the base 1200 ?

Pros: It helps you to maintain a calorie deficit because your eating times are restricted.
Cons: It is not easy if you are used to frequent meals and are prone to blood sugar swings.
Tips: Eat back all of those calories. 1200 is the absolute lowest you can go here without risking malnutrition. Consider protein and fiber goals in MFP as absolute minimums. Adjust their percentages or grams up a bit if you start to struggle with hunger.
ETA: Educate yourself about the different ways to do IF and decide what is best for you. Some info here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/599982/intermittent-fasting-faq1
