Alli reviews/opinions

I've been looking for a supplement to kick start my weight loss journey and was looking into Alli a bit. Has anyone taken it? If so can you tell me if it's a good idea or not. Also, I am on birth control and am a little worried about it messing that up, is there any history of it counteracting birth control?

There are lots of people on here who have tried Alli. A few had good experiences. Many of us experienced terrible side effects that we wouldn't wish on others.

Honestly the best thing would be to get your diet in order- healthy nutritious foods, regular meals, eating in a proper calorie deficit- and exercise regularly. Track everything in myfitnesspal and try to eat within your proper macros (protein, carbs and fats, and watch sugar intake as well- this can be viewed in your food diary at the bottom click on "nutrition").

Just doing this will "kick start" your weight loss just fine. You always lose the most at first anyhow. Diet pills tend to either be harmful or don't actually do anything- it's usually one or the other but sometimes both.

Pills also kind of set a precedent that you need some outside thing to be able to lose weight- a pill, a special diet, some kind of special weight loss shake, etc...

the truth is it's so much simpler than that and it comes from what YOU do- what you eat, how much you eat, how much you move, how well you take care of your body. That's it. No short cuts, no gimmicks, no magic pill. Just diet and lifestyle choices and consistency and time.

Don't do it. The only thing that kick starts weight loss is creating a calorie deficit, and it's the only thing that keeps you losing early one.

What people DON'T know is that Alli not only absorbs "bad" fat, but good fats as well. That means supplementing with a good fat supplement. Which just adds more money to the cost of weightloss. Not to mentioning a pill doesn't TEACH you how to eat correctly, just to have you think twice about a burger or fries because you might have an accident in your pants.
It's not the food that's the big problem. It's the OVERCONSUMPTION of it that causes weight gain.

Don't do it!! I know someone who anal-leakaged all over a couch while taking it. The directions literally tell you to wear dark pants when taking it.
    Also, it's expensive.

Just type "Anal leakage", Adult diapers, Exploding while out in public or how to clean the brown oily muck from your toilet bowl into the search engine here, you'll get loads of stellar reviews

I came in here just to post that thread. It appears that my work here is done, so not more to add than simply Please don't do it!

ETA: I don't believe it effects birth control, but if you really are determined to take it, may want to talk to your doctor first to verify that.

In the studies conducted by the manufacturer, people who took the drug lost only 2-3 kilograms (over weeks) than people who didn't. And in return, they experienced serious, life-affecting side effects.

Here's the side effects in layman terms:
