For the past 2 and a half weeks, I've been using my elliptical for 45 min 3x a week on max resistance while I lift 20kg. So I'm pressing it for 4 reps on each side and then repeat every 10 mins. Along with pressing, I also do halos with it, swing it around my body, row with it, hold in in my right hand, then left hand, then persons tricep extensions and bicep curl with it. Aside from the pressing, I perform 8-10 reps of these moves, 4 sets. This is while I'm striding max resistance on the elliptical. My heard rate is sky high throughout the workout and I am sweating like crazy. I'm already in normal bmi btw and am very fit so it's not as though I'm huffing and puffing because I'm unfit. I do this 3-4x a week instead of my normal kettlebell sessions because I find it a real challenge and so much more fun than doing my normal kettlebell routine. With this, I've increased from performing the whole routine on the crosstrainer from a 12kg to a 20kg bell. I want to know whether this would be considered strength training or cardio? My muscles are fatigued after, moreso than during my regular workout.

I know that strength training 2-3x a week is advised to retain muscles s change body composition and that is my ultimate aim and that's why I want to know if what I am doing is classed as strength training or cardio

I believe it would be both - your heart rate is up in the cardio range working out your cardiovascular system, and you are doing resistance/strength training as well. Sounds like an awesome way to multi-task!
