Frustration

Hi everyone! I am 54 years old and have been overweight (obese) my whole life..... well since age 12 when I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. Since then, I have gained and lost so much weight. The lowest weight I've ever been was 145 pounds on Jenny Craig - which I gained all and more when I went off the program! I am now a diabetic with the highs and lows and insulin resistant with metabolic syndrome. I have diabetes, high BP, high tryglicerides, have fibromyalgia and the most aggravating condition - foot problems! I was born flat-footed and now have nueropathy. I used to love to walk and now if I'm on my feet for 20 minutes, I'm in so much pain. The doctor gave me Gabapentin and I'm still trying to figure out the dosage. Exercising is my frustrating thing as well!
I get so angry because my sister is thinner than me and she works hard at eating healthy and walking and she's 70 years old. I keep praying that I will have some will power and want to change, but honestly, I'm so sick of trying. I have tried Plexus and have not lost a pound in 2 months and I have done gluten free and REALLY limited my sweets. My BS was good when I first started using Plexus, but it's back up and down like it used to! I guess I just need some kind of encouragement and prayer that I can find something that will work with me. I'm tired of being so tired all the time! Help!

have you actually tried MFP? The entire concept of calories in and calories out? You are here...what have you done in using this app? Need more info from you.1

I have heard many people with diabetes and thyroid issues using low carb or keto to lose weight...for some it's more sustainable because it makes blood sugar more stable and reduces cravings.
it's not necessarily a willpower issue, sometimes you have to find what works best for your body and what you personally can sustain long term - find a lifestyle that you can live with, and it may not be the same lifestyle your sister has0 -
I sent you a message that I hope helps!

Here is one doctor's opinion on diabetes and neuropathy. I would check with your doctor before implementing any of his recommendations.

Many people have found that by tracking their food and limiting sweets and fatty foods, their medical conditions improve. This takes several months, but we didn't get into our current mess overnight.
There are no quick fixes. It's just one meal at a time and making the better choice every time. That doesn't mean you can't ever have your old favorites. It just means you can't have them every day or as much as you want. But I've been able to live with that.
As for exercising . . . do you have a computer and the internet? YouTube has a lot of exercise videos including many that you can do in a chair. Exercising in a chair still burns calories, and it won't hurt your feet.
Give MFP a chance. You may never get back to 145, but you CAN weigh less than you do now. What is your first goal: 10 pounds? 20 pounds?
Stay with us and reach that first goal. Nothing is so exhilarating as achieving something.1
