fruit, veggies, jerky, tea.
a lot of "snack foods" are really processed and usually fried so they're high in sodium and calories. I like the Terra Chips as a small snack here and again, but the problem with good snack foods is that its hard to just eat a serving size if you're hungry.
try making miniature tea sandwiches. they're super fun to make and are a nice pick me up.0 -
I agree with crans here.... fruits veggies jerky ... not too big on tea myself though.
Get a food dehydrator and make your own dried fruit mixes. Toss in some nuts too if you want for a trail mix. Sliced dried banana's are amazing just a small pinch of sugar to enhance the sweetness on the fruits and you're set.0 -
almonds, grapes, carrots/peas, berries and so on0

If you like nuts, try dry roasting beans in your oven. Chickpeas and kidney beans and whatever. Lots of recipes for them online and I know I love them.0

great! Thanks guys!
I actually recently found a great 'chip'. I'm sure people have heard of it or tried it, but they are called 'pop chips'. So tasty!! Better than getting regular potato chips that are my weakness!
I'll have to try jerky - didn't think it was good for you!0 -
sweet potato popchips are especially good. And jerky is very high in sodium (and many brands have ridiculous, gross additives) but also high in protein and low in fat and so could be good if used wisely and in moderation...0

jerky CAN be good for you. slim jims don't count (went through that during my hiking phase....bad juju). I like buying perky jerky or wind up making it myself. Just make sure you use a good smoke, and not the liquid stuff that's loaded with sodium. A lot of people coat the meat in brown sugar too.....try to avoid doing that also lol.0 -
Some of my favourites are:
Fresh fruit - I eat apples, bananas and pears mostly
Dried fruit - unsulphured apricots and dates are my choices
Danone Danio yogurts - the cherry, passionfruit and blueberry ones are the best
Frozen berries mashed together with greek yogurt - tastes just like ice cream, yum!
Frozen banana with peanut butter - again just like ice cream, delicious!
Special K cereal bars - red berry ones are the best
Pepper with a low calorie dressing
Microwaved apple with a teaspoon of sugar topped with greek yogurt
Pear topped with raisins and a teaspoon of honey and microwaved for three minutes
I could go on... I snack A LOT!0
