Calories Burned

So I have a fitbit blaze and it's connected to mfp. Before I have let the app change my allowed calories by factoring in my exercise but I feel like that defeats the purpose of youre looking to lose weight.

What are your thoughts?!

As long as you have MFP setup correctly that is what it is suppose to do...

Why may you ask? Well mainly because not everyone exercises while losing weight...so MFP sets your calories so you will lose weight without exercise and any calories "earned" during exercise should be eaten back because you shouldn't net under 1200.

But you have to have MFP setup correctly...activity level needs to be set at sedentary if you are using a fitness tracker...

Well I actually set my macros myself and calories based on a calculation from somewhere other then mfp. So....honestly I'm not sure if I should have done that or not. :'(
I've read so much about mfp not setting calories correctly, so I changed them.

When you set your calorie goal, did you include the calories burnt through exercise?

If so, you don't want to eat those back because you'd be "double-dipping."

Are you losing weight? If so how much have you lost in the last month? Judge by results...

When you did those calculations did you include your predicted exercise?

haha they set them fine it is typically exercise calories people have issues with...but you wouldn't have that issue as you have an activity tracker.

I set my activity level to include light activity but not include exercise. Sooooooooo maybe I'll just reset this little thing and get it on the right track.

    Thanks guys! <3

If you have a tracker yes...just reset all your MFP and use sedentary activity and let your tracker do it's job.

I use one as well and I know that I am not sedentary as I get 5k steps in before exercise but I set to sedentary to ensure correct accounting of calories.

My MFP and Fitbit are set to sedentary with a 750 daily deficit.
I dont log anything. My 3 daily walks are included as just my activity and I get calories for them in addition to whatever else I do.

After some time seeing my data I know my approx daily burn and I know how much I eat so I quit paying attention to the green calories more or less and more to the calories burned on my fitbit and my food on MFP to insure my deficit. *I assume my calorie burn with fitbit is actually less and mentally subtract 200 to be "safe".
