Feeling bad and unmotivated

I went of the wagon today and had a medium domino's pizza and cookies I had been eating well up to dinner when my sister got it for us as a treat and I couldn't resist! I obviously went way over my calorie limit and there's no way I can burn all that off in a day so feeling a bit unmotivated that all my hard work has been wasted and I'll put the stone back on!

you can make up for it. the choice is yours. let it derail you or accept and dwell on the future and not the past.
Eat less tomorrow, exercise harder tomorrow. do anything..just don't wallow in self pity and be a quitter.
this is BUT ONE OF MANY times like this. how will it define your journey? Its go time. whats it gonna be??

The good and oft repeated advice is "log it and move on." It's only one day and you'll learn from it.7

One pizza and some cookies does not equal a stone. You will probably be up several pounds for a few days due to the water weight, but that is not real weight gain and should come off quickly. Just make sure you go back to being good. Maybe eat under for the next few days. You can do it!5

Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
You ate the pizza. You enjoyed the pizza. You knew the consequences, now it's time to deal with them. It's not rocket science, end the pity party, get off your butt, get moving and get back on track.
Everyone has set backs, own it and drive on.6 -
This can be frustrating stuff, for sure.
That said, your relationship with food is one that's going to continue to give your roadblocks. By that I mean feeling guilty for having eaten a DELICIOUS pizza and OH SO SATISFYING cookies.
Think of your food intake as a puzzle. Nothing is "bad" per say (obvious toxic stuff aside) when you fit it into your calories. You didn't fail because you ate a pizza. You just ate a pizza. That's it. If you're on track in calories the rest of the week, chances are you'll still be at a deficit and this is a speed bump at worst.
Your hard work is only wasted when you quit. And you're not quitting.3 -
I feel pretty certain that somewhere you have an internal voice telling you all kinds of things that you have heard from or about other people and internalized as truth. Basically the gist is that this one moment and how you presently feel about it is emblematic of all your character flaws. Many of us have to fight this same voice.
Try to look at this from the outside as if you were looking at a friend. If one of your friends was here and felt this way would you encourage them to quit? Unlikely. It wouldn't be very supportive.
Yes, this moment isn't maybe your best. So, what elements came together to make you feel this way? For me, it might have been the lure of "a food I can never eat again," or wanting to be part of the group, or "well I have already messed up, might as well go for broke." Or maybe you just haven't thought about pizza as a possible food and didn't have any idea of the calories until you looked it up. Regardless, you are likely to end up in similar situations throughout your life. Having strategies ready for next time may help.
Don't give up though. You can do it. Really.1 -
i love making my pizza i work at a pizza restaurant so its nice to have all the recipes and put it in here and break it all down i ate a pizza today to i had made a slightly smaller 12 in and it was yummy and under 400 calories just make a pizza next time and the killer is the cheese on a pizza so next time try lite cheese it will be much better then for you1

It happens to us all. Don't let this one set back make you feel bad about yourself and don't let it derail your progress. I had to learn this lesson the hard way by putting back on all the weight I once lost and more. In my experience, I have to tell myself that it happened and just to move on and deal with the consequences. I've almost lost 130 Lbs so far and have slightly more than half to go. If I don't keep myself motivated and feeling good about myself all of that could go away in a moment.
I know everybody here is on your side and we all want you to succeed. Do this for yourself. You can do it! You are much stronger than you think!2 -
Thanks guys I guess you are all right , we can't eat healthy for the rest of our lives there will be some tines we indulge! A few of you have said as long as you are within your calories it's fine - what puzzles me is that are you saying if you had 1500 calories a day for instance , let's say you had a burger king or a McDonald's which was 1200 calories and that's all you ate - that that's fine and you won't pit anything on because it's under your calories? But what about fat ect? I think this is what's confusing me a little0

Calories are what matter. Macros (Fat/Protein/Carbs) really only matter for health reasons. We keep up our Protein levels because we don't want to lose muscle or we want to gain muscle. We keep up carbs for energy, and Fat helps build muscle and support hormone levels and other functions of your body (although it's highest in calories). So I think of my macros as staying healthy, but calories control my weight. All of the low carb, high fat, high protein, low protein etc. and so-forth diets you read about are bunk unless you eat less calories than you burn.2 -
You are falling for the long held myth that 'OMG FAT IS BAD WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE FROM IT" (caps for emphasis.) This has long been a problem with people who want to cut "all that bad fat," where calories are the biggest problem. If you go off one day, just do better the next day and don't stress it. Focus on being healthy and happy, not skinny and miserable.
This should be a good read on fats. The only truely bad fat is trans fats, the others should be eaten, but with everything moderation is the key. Don't stop eating what you enjoy, just eat less.1 -
There are some interesting articles on how the sugar industry may have influenced the US government recommendation to eat low fat.0

You're welcome. Don't get me wrong, it's important for your overall health to keep your macros in check, especially while dieting, but it's not going to end the world if you go over on one or are under on another. I do it all the time and lost all the weight I needed to lose by staying under my calorie goals.

Remember how bad you feel after you've eaten it so that the next time you are confronted with temptation, you will grit your teeth, say "no thank you", and walk away.
We've all fallen off the wagon. But those of us who are successful get right back on. Your next weigh in may be up a little, but exercise a little more this week, eat the right foods, and it will come off fast.
Good luck.0 -
While everyone else is being sympathetic i will be more realistic
if you want to get fit/lose weight. then you will.
if your easily tempted. then grow some willpower.
if you dont have willpower. say hello to the new fatter you

we have all done it, the difference is now I get back on track and don't give up. I use to would have overeaten one time and give up. I also see my eyes light up when I look at food but I think about how I can fit in my clothes, my capris and I light up over this! Feels great to wear all my clothes.

So true today I put on a pair of work trousers 2 sizes smaller than the ones j have been wearing and they fit ! Feel a bit strange because they are smaller and not as comfy as the ones before were so loose they were like pj bottoms but it's nice to know you are losing!1 -
