First off, I would like to introduce myself. I am from Pennsylvania and I'm 19 years old. A few friends of mine told me about this app and I decided to give it a shot. I have been having trouble losing weight for a while now. I am 5'10" and I'm 206lbs. It may not seem so heavy but I begin to lose weight to about 200 and then I plateau. I just cannot lose any more weight. So I need help with my dieting. What makes it hard is that I don't like too many healthy things, I have been getting better at it though. Reason for such a big change is that I will be enlisting into the United States Marine Corps! My goal weight is 185lbs. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know! Thank you!

Losing weight is about ingesting fewer calories than you burn all day long living your life. While eating a well rounded diet is good for your long term health, it is not required in order to lose weight. You can simply eat less of whatever it is that you are currently eating to lose weight. If you have not already, I'd start by filling out your MFP profile to lose 1 pound per week. Eat at that calorie level. If you exercise, log those calories. The idea behind MFP is that your base calorie goal is what you need to eat in order to lose the weight and then you are to eat back your exercise calories. Some people like to eat all exercise calories and some like to less of them. I would suggest starting by eating around 50% of them. Then if you are losing too slowly after several weeks, you can eat fewer and if you are losing to quickly you can eat more.

    Best of luck to you.

How long till you join? It may be better to be heavier. Just run alot and don't restrict calories below maintenence. Proformance over looks with that lifestyle. Lift heavy and get strong before you go. I'm assuming you are going infantry with this advice.
