Struggles even at the beginning

Hello everyone.
I have decided that I have to change my eating habits and start exercising if I finally want to look as I always wanted. My first steps would be to stop eating all the junk food but...
It's just my first week but I am already struggling. I really want to eat something that has a lot of sugar but I also don't want to fall back into having cheat day everyday and eating way too much. I tried snacking on healthy snacks but that doesn't help me really much.
Does anyone have any good advice? Thanks

If you want to lose weight/improve health, you also have to want to do the things that makes that happen. The good thing is that "suffering" isn't one of those things. You are still going to eat, you are going to eat enough, you can eat good food, and you can eat your favorites. Just log correctly and hit your calorie goal.
It can help you to look at your meal timing and choice of food. Maybe snacking sets you up for failure? What IS your idea of healthy food?0 -
The answer is this... satisfy sweet cravings AND your protein needs at once!
You're welcome.2 -
Allow for your sweets when planning your meals. I eat to much junk food right now (working to change that) but still stay at my current goal (four days in.) Don't remove your favorites completely just eat less and add better things slowly. (IE a couple of Hershey's dark chocolate rather than a whole candy bar if that's your thing.) If you have an off day just accept it and move on. The idea is to improve the future and present, not regret the past. Stop thinking about what you should have done yesterday, focus on what you can do today. Humans are not perfect so don't expect perfection and don't starve yourself. The end goal is to be happy and healthy, not skinny and miserable.1

Save me room for a favorite treat and have it last thing of the day. After that the kitchen is CLOSED.
As time goes on I have found I can handle it at different times of day now that I've had time to get used to eating less overall.1 -
Stop labeling food, any food as junk.. Once you get this mantra out of your head, hopefully you can see that food is just food.. All foods provide different macro and micronutrients, but at the end of the day its just food..
Next if you have true triggers that blow you off point, remove the triggers.. Next restriction is not going to get where you want to go. Restrictions have the possibility to blow your diet out of the water by causing binging later on.
Plan your day. Plan to have a treat, a yumminess that you will look forward to every day. Rather that is a snack or a dessert.
Make sure that your meals are balanced with the appropriate macros that gives you satiety and ability to stay fuller longer. Meal timing is another suggestion.
Now why all the tricks in the world can help, you still have to deal with being a slight bit unconformable with dieting in the beginning. But that shall to pass. Trust the process, and trust that you can do this!5 -
In the beginning I just ate what I wanted but stayed within my calories. I found after a few weeks of doing that, that I naturally started thinking about how bad I want "xyz" because I was eating calorie dense things which meant I was going to be able to eat less food on the whole throughout the day. Once that kicked in then eating "junk" kind of went by the wayside unless I have a huge craving for something b/c I wanted to be able to eat more (and feel better). You might consider just logging for a few weeks and then see if you naturally cut back on the "junk" when you see what it's costing you calorie wise.1
