Planning a Motorcycle Trip. From Portland, Oregon to San Diego, CA and back. Spring of 2017. Want to take about 2 weeks and stay on the Pacific Coast Highway most of the way, but I cannot find any decent directions on line. Any suggestions for sites that might help? Or even a website that might help plan such a trip? Haven't had much luck with Mapquest, Google Maps and a couple others. Going to be about 4 to 6 bikes. Going to have to search Biker friendly Lodging, Bars, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Calling 880 part of the PCH is a heck of a stretch, but it would be worth taking hwy 1 along the coast one direction and 880 the other way so you can see both Half Moon Bay/the coast-side of SF as well as San Jose and Oakland/Berkeley.
OP, taking hwy 84 across the SF peninsula would be a good side trip. It's a gorgeous road across the Santa Cruz mountains, and there are a couple of biker-friendly restaurants in La Honda and Woodside.0 -

Thanks, I am probably going to head straight to the coast from Portland. Probably around Astoria, then head south. Hugging the coastline whenever possible. 101 and, once into California, Highway 1.0 -
Thanks to everyone who inputted. I have actually traveled south from Portland a dozen times. In the past, we have usually traveled down Interstate 5 until we reach Sacramento or San Francisco and then head to the Coast. This time, we want to hug the coast as much as possible and stay in more out of the way places. It's not about the destination. It's about the ride.
@RoteBook - Last year we went to Hollister and beyond and we did head through the Santa Cruz Mountains. Was Beautiful.
@thesunmoonandstars -- Thanks for the sites. I am going to check them out today.
I retire in 3 years. The first trip I take after retiring is going to be Route 66 from Santa Monica to Chicago. I did it back in 1975, but was unable to take the time to really enjoy the sights.0 -
