Crossfit anyone?

I've really been interested in crossfit workouts...I got to a private gym that usually is pretty empty when I go there and there is an ary of equpitment. I'm not sure where to start or what to do and I can't afford a membership at a crossfit gym....

Doesn anyone take part in crossfit or is correctly informed on it? What types of meals do you eat and exercises do you do? Also, what are your resoruces?

I'd greatly appreciate anyones help, thank you!

my suggestion would be to try a few classes at a crossfit place. i know the one i got to has classes that are $20 without a membership. Go, see if you like it, and go from there. A lot of the workouts you can do on your own which is a great thing about it. However, I would suggest going a few times to get the feel of things and making sure your form is correct before jumping into it on your own.

Crossfit is such a broad category to cover. You can go to YouTube and find a WOD (workout of the day) or you can make up your own workout. Not sure how versed you are in different exercises/movements. I used to go to a gym to do mine but now I do it in my own Workout space. As for Diet, I'm not a good example. Hope you figure it out. Feel free to PM me any questions.

If you sign up at https://bodeefit.com/ they send you a WOD through email. I don't use it, but I know some that do. It's just a free service.

I am a CrossFit Level I Coach. As far as eating, CrossFit people are really into the Paleo Diet form of eating. They also recommend the Zone but mainly Paleolithic, which is mainly your nuts, berries and meats and veggies.

The biggest thing about CrossFit is form. Some workouts you are throwing around a lot of weight and form has got to be your main importance before upping your weight. A lot of the workouts that are done with the Olympic Bar can be substituted with a medicine ball or just a weight. Every CrossFit place is required to post their workouts on their website, but not all places have the best programming for weight loss. It's important to still get a few days a week of heavy metabolic conditioning in (which some CrossFit places offer in good programming) if you have a lot of weight to lose. Even going to a CrossFit a few times as suggested may not tell you everything you need to know, which is why most of them offer a fundamentals class which takes you through the form and technique of each lift, squat and maneuver.

The biggest thing I learned is that you cannot rely on the coaches to correct your form. I went to 3 classes (after the intro) and in the third, was encouraged to add weight to the bar for deadlift (by the end of the WOD I was at 115lbs). I've never done this sort of lifting so I listened to the coach and ended up straining my back, landing myself in the ER and it's now a week later and I'm not recovered. The box I was going to does not have mirrors and I am not experienced so I was relying on the coach to correct my form.

So just be careful, find someone you can trust, make sure your form is excellent, don't feel pressured to add weight right away.

You could take the WODs from any crossfit site and do them on your own. There are plenty of reputable people posting videos so you can work on your form.
