1320 kcals a day minimum?

It looks like MFP won't recommend any less than that to avoid going into "starvation mode". I would question whether that applies to everyone? Surely there are cases when for short bursts or 6-8 weeks, you can go below that to 1000 kcal if needed and starvation mode can be avoided with the right nutrition AND right muscle building exercises?!
I personally have gone on 800 kcals a day for 2-3 week periods previously and it was great, the knock on effects especially. You'd then slowly go back up to 1400 kcals or so over another 2-3 weeks. It will help to both speed weight loss and help you speed up metabolism. It only works if I continue to exercise 3-4 times a week, mixture of cardio and resistance training though.
