Kick in the *kitten*

Thanks to working from home for a couple of years, I found myself to be in the worst shape of my life, 20 lbs over weight, with 50 fast approaching. Did a huge amount of walking over the winter, but that didn't get me anything.
As the Wellness person at our company once said: "It is not a useful cardio workout, unless you are unable to sing while doing it."
Kicked around eating better and getting more exercise, but what really got me going was seeing the pictures of myself from
a recent vacation. No, those won't be going in Facebook. Of course, it is was evil belly fat. Embarrassing. Another trip to the beach coming up in a few weeks, so there is even more motivation.
Since seeing those pictures, I have taken up bicycling and using MFP every day. 2 weeks in and maybe one pound gone so far.
I know it is too early for weight results, but am definitely feeling the additional energy. Bouncing out of bed, instead of dragging out with a headache every day. Even thinking about calling it quits on the coffee.
Cheers to all of you for the weight you have lost.

Good going! I have lost 20 lbs since May 1st by just logging daily and walking. I have found that weight loss is not always steady or in a straight line. I have had a few small gains but overall it is a fairly steady loss. I am 55 and have 20-30 lbs to go, will decide when I get closer where I want to end up. Just keep at it and you will get to where you want. Feel free to add me as a friend if you want some encouragement on your journey.0

Adam, welcome the MFP. You are doing the best thing for yourself and your heath by just taking steps in the right direction. I, too, have struggled up and down with my weight, but I've found that being aware and accountable regarding what I'm taking in and working to burn off really has helped. So being here will really keep you going and motivated. Also set the target to just do what you need to do each day and you'll see the benefits of your consistency way beyond the upcoming vacation.
I know you're going to do great and if you need / want an extra friend on the journey just send me a Friend Request. You can do it!0
