I am down almost 80 pounds, so as any of u know, the closer I get to my goal the harder it is to lose! If I lose more than a pound in a week lately then that's great!... Well it was my time of the month and I just thought with that and other stressors that one day off my diet wouldn't hurt... Now I'm up 3 pounds! It took over a month to lose those 3 pounds!!! I'm so upset with myself! Anyone have any experience with that, could some of it still be water weight, will it really take me over a month to lose those 3 pounds I gained? I just can't believe that one day set me back over a month of hard work!

You didn't gain three pounds of body fat. To do that, you'd need to eat 10,500 calories over maintenance! It's mostly water weight and will go away in a few days. Some of it might also be additional glycogen stores in your muscles, which will be used up when you return to a deficit.1

I'm not a woman and I can't speak to that part of the issue but as a guy who took yesterday off and is 4lbs heavier this morning its mostly water weight and undigested food it will come off in a couple days.
To gain 3lbs you would need to consume something like 10,500 calories on top of whatever number of calories your body needs just to maintain itself through one day. Even though I tried really hard to do this yesterday I doubt I even came close to that number.
Congrats on your progress so far.1 -
I know what you are experiencing, we order Asian food every four + months. The scales tip +2#+ due to the msg and salt. It leaves the next day or so. You're fine. Continue to eat PLANNED foods1

I should note- the day off of my diet occurred 5 days ago, so that's why I'm wondering why the scale is STILL up0 -
If its any consolation, I'm having the same issue0

3 pounds is really nothing around TOM.. Its well with in +/- 5 lbs daily fluctuations you can see on the scale.
Did you change anything in your diet since then, did you eat more food than your normal daily goal, more carbs, less carbs, more sodium, less sodium, have you been hydrating, exercising more, sleeping well or worse, added stress in your life?????
Its water retention in some form or another. I am surprised that with the weight you have lost thus far you have not been familiar with body weight scale wings...0 -
I'm up 3 pounds today after eating horrible Friday and Saturday. It usually takes me anywhere from 3-5 days to shake off the damage when i eat off the rails.0

Unless you ate 10,500 extra calories in 1 day it's not like you really gained 3 pounds of fat. You probably just ate more carbs and sodium than normal.
Carbs and sodium cause water retention. So do your hormones during your cycle.
Get back on plan, don't stress, drink water and get some rest- and I bet in a few days those 3 pounds will be gone.0
