So the brace is off after 3 months and this is the muscle loss. Basically all of it haha as in if I flex now, nothing moves! Before anyone pipes up, yes the angles aren't the same. Until I complete physio I can't rotate my shoulder out to straight!

    It comes back quickly too.

First your CNS learns to fire again then your muscle returns to pre-injury levels far quicker than it took you to get there in the first place.

    Take it steady.

Thanks dude, yeah it's ok I know I can get it all back (full body has suffered) im just so happy to have the brace off and be able to move /work again! Just interesting to see how fast it withers!

Well, if it's any consolation, that's one of the most badass ways to break an arm.

Should have heard it go, was a hell of a crack ;)B)

Woo hoo the brace is off.
So sorry about the muscle loss.

I suppose it is going to be physio for a while, then back to your normal routine.
    Hope everything goes well. <3

It would be really interesting if you were willing to keep this thread going with progression information and updates.
( sorry, it is such a unique opportunity to observe a muscle recovery)
    Cheers, h.

I'm glad you have the relief of the brace off, but sorry about your muscle loss.

I broke an ankle about 10 years ago and was shocked by the withering of my calf when the cast came off. It's amazing how much it goes away when it's not used.

I had to take 10 months off of lifting because of illness and gained my muscle/strength back fast.

@ARGriffy, that would be wonderful, and I think insightful for when people do get sidelined by injury or illness.
    thank you.

I've been there! Ankle for me, though! Wheelchair for 4 months, cane and boot for another few. Legs are so horrifically weak, but getting stronger every day. Being disabled gave me such a great appreciation for what the body can do.

It gave me a great appreciation for those not able bodied! Having an arm taken away was a huge challenge it made me have far more respect for those who live with impairments for ever!

@middlehaitch I promised updates, here ya go. 2.5 weeks AB (that's After Brace  ) and i've got some muscle coming back, and this week i've started putting some weight through it and training again. Very very gently and slowly, with physio once a week too! It still feels super broken and I can tell this is now going to take at least a year to return to the place I was and have faith in my arm to do anything inverted! Pics, Set with dark red top are 1 week after brace, Grey and pink top are today. You can see my shoulder rotation is much better too, I can almost rotate it out parallel with my body now. However I have shortened nerves in my arm so straightening it is very painful down in my fingers so I need to stretch them back out really slowly according to the physio or they could snap  (compare to the top post of the thread to see difference from day brace came off.)ytscvgv7ydpr.png

Wow, I can see a difference. I thought it would take a lot longer.
Your ROM has really improved too

It's sad that it will take a year to get back your wonderful arms, but I am glad you have accepted, mentally at least, that it is going to be a slow recovery.

I bet you get frustrated as he11 some days.

Thanks so much for the update.

    Cheers, h.
