Yo yo dieting how to stop it ?

While doing this diet of mine( which started with slimming world ) I find I keep having a problem with my weight going up and down .I know that it mostly stems from having too much sugary foods or chocolate .I don't gain a lot maybe just a couple of pounds but it's a couple of pounds in the wrong direction .why is it that when we treat ourselves to the foods we should not have ,and feel guilty afterwards for doing so, that we start beating ourselves up for doing exactly what we set out to do in the first place?
Knowing that what we eat will be bad for us and stop us from reaching the goal or target we have set ourselves .I know we keep hearing that we should not deprive ourselves of a treat now and then, but when trying to reach a goal, are we really going to be depraved and gouge on all the foods we are not supposed to have when we are finished dieting?
Would we be busy technically maintaining our diet in fear of not eating the wrong foods ? Or just eating a certain amount or limit of cravings while dieting is okay or not?
I get so confused because I eat too much of it when I crave them.
How do I stop this crazy ongoing cycle?

Lifestyle change. Easier said than done (I know because I have failed).
I can lose weight using elimination diets. But these changes are temporary and teach me nothing about life after "dieting." I need to know the portion size and the calories for all my favorite foods, because I can't see myself giving them up forever.
The trick is to figure out how to keep this in check. I do best with things that are packaged in individual serving sizes. I allow myself a treat every day. I put that treat off until after dinner. Then I choose from a Weight Watcher's ice cream sandwich, or 2 squares of Ghiradelli dark chocolate, or a 100 calorie pack of Oreo Crisps.
I don't keep Hershey Kisses in the house, an open bag would be too much temptation. Figure out how to eat your favorites AND keep a balance. It's not always easy to do, especially at the beginning.
Don't beat yourself up & "start over." Log your mistakes and carry on. We don't need to be prefect to lose weight, we just need to be better.1 -
I decided to have a couple scoops of high-fat, high-calorie ice cream yesterday. I went to a good ice cream parlor nearby, got a dish to go, took it home and ate it. I don't keep ice cream in the house, if I want it (or something like chocolate) I'll go out, buy a serving and enjoy it. Last week, I wanted a chocolate bar and went out and bought one. I can't keep certain things in the house because I'll tend to eat them all.
For me, I need to log everything and weigh myself regularly. Not doing so has gotten me in trouble in the past. Others might be able to stop logging at some point; I don't believe I can. You have to learn to know your own limitations and set rules that work for you. People are different, and I've come to believe there's no one size fits all solution that works for everyone.0 -
This "diet of mine" has to turn from diet to lifestyle change. I eat whatever I want - just in quantities that fit within my calorie limit for the day. If I'm over one day - I'll try to balance it out over the next few days (not drastic - just shave an extra 100 calories or so off). It's worked for me - and helped me lose over 100 lbs.0
