How fast am I jogging??

I love jogging but I can't seem to figure out how to log in my exercise. I just don't know how fast I'm running and I don't even know how I would begin to guess. I don't really run in a specific place where I could measure how far I'm running and then time myself -- I pretty much jog around my backyard and woods (where it's nice and shaded instead of out on my neighborhood's road) and have a very random path....well wherever there's shade, lol.
Anyone have any ideas??

Try www.mapmyrun.com
Just put in the address of your starting place, and do the route you took. It will tell you how far you went. After that you can calculate speed. If it took you an hour to go 3 miles, then you were going 3 mph0 -
I use an app on my iPhone called Runkeeper. It uses the GPS in the iPhone to measure distance, speed, and calories burned. It sync's up to their website and you can get a map of the route that you just ran

The link above will take you to their website and yo can see on of my last walk/jog sessions
The app is free, but you can upgrade it to Runkeeper Pro for expanded reporting and features0 -
If you're running in woods then a GPS may not be too much use (even if you have one to hand). How about a cheap pedometer, calibrated to your approximate running pace length, which should give you an approximate distance, from which you can calculate an approximate speed?0

Go to a track and see how long it take you to do a mile or 1/2 mile at the same pace you do around the yard and trail. This would give you a pretty good idea on how far and how much you are doing. mapmyride.com is good but I don't know how accurate it would be if you run around the yard0
