I am going to start weight training in the gym this week. I am a complete novice and would love some friends who are either like me and just getting into it or seasoned pros for motivation and advice. Feel free to add me . Apologies in advance I ask A LOT of questions

use a tried-and-tested programme. This thread will give you some tips -
watch videos on form, and if possible get a trainer at the gym to show you some lifts. Ideally use free weights as they teach better body stability and compound moves are best to develop core strength. 'Accessory' lifts are for later when you are into the swing of things.
I'm doing Stronglifts 5x5 which I like because it is short and straightforward, and I can be in and out of the gym easily in the morning before work. There are a whole host of other good programmes out there.
Two books it is worth buying for background info - Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe which details the compound lifts, and New Rules of Lifting for Women is great at explaining WHY you should lift and how much you should eat while doing so. The lifts in NROLFW I found a bit complicated and long winded for now.
