Most people on this website are probably going to recommend that you try MFP. It's why we are here -- we're a (mostly) self-selecting group of people using this app to manage our weight.

This. These forums are mainly used by people who are using MFP to lose weight. Slimming World and Weight Watchers don't work if you aren't eating fewer calories than you burn so why not cut out the middle man? Also, if you're eating in a special way while losing weight it's going to be more difficult to maintain your weight loss once you go back to eating the way you normally do. In other words, eat the same foods while you're losing weight as you plan to eat once you reach your goal. If you do you have a greater chance of successfully maintaining your goal weight once you reach it.

If accountability through meetings, is essential for you; I recommend TOPS instead!

Results come from each person's own commitment and consistency to consuming fewer calories.

I had a lot of success using the Weight Watchers points systems years ago. I managed to lose 60 lbs. with in 6 months after having my oldest. The only issue I have is that it is like any other diet program, once you stop counting points the weight comes back. I do believe they have a maintenance program, but again you have to meal plan and count your points religiously or you will end up gaining the weight right back.

I feel that MFP is helping me to learn about food and weight and how it all affect my body which in turn is making me change my thinking about food and to make better choices while still eating "normal" food.

    Welcome, Scarlet. :)

Choose whichever one you believe will help you keep that required calorie deficit.

Or, you can simply eat what you love to eat, reduce your portions, and move more. Weighing and logging food helps to make sure you are accurately accounting for calories in/calories burned.

This could very well be true, but anybody who eats unlimited calories and goes over their TDEE will gain weight instead of lose. If people lose on slimming world, it is because they are burning more calories than they are taking in.

WW taught me portion control, the importance of eating my veggies, and balancing my food choices throughout the day and week. What it didn't teach me was energy balance. Yes they have points but points became too random and arbitrary to me every time they changed the program. Calories never change. You don't need an app to convert them into another unit, you just add them, and with the exception of some meats and produce, all you do is flip over a package and there you go, calories! I still attend meetings for educational purposes (plus I'm Lifetime so it's free). I double track so I see the benefit of both methods.
