When do you feel thinner?

So here I sit having lost around 50 pounds. I needed all new clothes, and the most recent ones I purchased are even in sizes I would consider to be getting into normal person sizes (14). Bye bye tiny plus section of the store. I don't have nearly as many aches and pains from being so overweight. People notice my weight loss all the time now. Problem is, when I look in the mirror I don't really see that. Granted, I still have a ways to go but I think numbers wise I'm getting more in line with normal. I still feel way bigger than everybody around me and I still see the same thing I saw 50 lbs ago. Is that normal? Is there a point where you look in the mirror and see someone who is normal instead of someone who is fat?

I was finally able to wear that lovely dress that wa sitting at the back of my cupboard which I was so ashamed to admit couldn't fit when mum one brought it for me

    I can wear it now

Also I seem to be attracting more male attention which never happened for me even when I was 16 (I was fat all my life) ...it's weird I always did the hard work ...it's a strange feeling

I have lost about 40 pounds and still struggling to lose about another 15-20 more. I have been a size 16 and at barely 5' feet that is not good for me. I now fit into size 4. But I still see the "fat" person in the mirror.
I'm not trying to get sympathy. I know that others would like to be size 4.
Now that I am pretty muscular, I get my share of complements from men and women.
But I still don't see it. I don't see what other people see.

I think body image is personal thing that people struggle with in different ways.

I think i would feel "thinner" at size 2 or 0. But that is just me.
  • I felt thinner when my pants started falling off of me and my thighs no longer filled them out either. For the first time ever in my life I feel fairly comfortable wearing a 2 piece bathing suit & I'm getting constant "wow! you look amazing... or you're so skinny!" compliments.
Though when I look in the mirror, I too, still notice that my arms (while MUCH slimmer) need more toning, my thighs are still large (though much smaller) and my "love handles" are still sticking around a little bit. Most of the weight I'm still carrying is around my hips & thighs and for me it stands out more now than ever.
I DO feel thinner though & that helps continue to motivate me! Keep it up!
