Or, you could totally ignore promos and miracle "diets" that will not keep weight off permanently.

MFP should have given you calorie goals when you joined - if they're incorrect, go to "Settings" up by your name and update your diet/fitness profile.

Log everything you eat and measure everything you drink on the food tab, add exercise if it suits you (people generally eat back some of those exercise calories), and try to follow the guidelines for how much protein/carbs/fat to eat.

(Edit: a food scale is a must for accurate logging. And yay, mods deleted the spam post.)

Hit the forums for advice, ideas, and encouragement.

Remember, it took years to build your current body and it will take time to build a new one.

Set up your stats, eat the amount of calories it tells you to and stay within the macros framework as much as possible (in "nutrition" in your food diary). Log everything you eat- measure with a digital food scale for best accuracy. Be consistent. That's it.

Setup your account with your stats and the number of pounds you want to lose. MFP auto generates your calorie goal to eat every day to lose weight.. You need to meet that goal (no going over and certainly NOT going under)..

Read the stickies called "Most Helpful Posts" at the beginning of the forums.. All of the information contained on how to lose weight, food scale use, exercise calories, guides and how to's etc are there.
