No one told me how hard it would be to break that 2.5 year habit! It's been a huge struggle to throw all that food away this week.
I cant believe im already seeing weight loss this week from portion control and not eating her leftovers.

Serve less or wrap it up for her to eat later.

What if I don't eat dinner and my dinner IS my child's left overs. Does that count as portion control. I give him what appears to be a toddler size meal but he doesn't finish it so I do. I eat, he eats all he wants/needs and food isn't wasted.

That was a very hard habit for me to break as well. Dads job is eating the leftovers. That's just how it is :)

Now instead dads job is to put the left overs in the fridge or portion them out as lunches :)

Here's what helped me be ok with throwing away leftovers: "It's wasted in your stomach just as much as it's wasted in the garbage because you don't need the calories."

I try to save them for another time as much as I can because I HATE to waste! (My fridge is filled with half bagels with one bite out of them and my kids roll their eyes when I drag them out and trill, "Bagels for breakfast! Yum yum!")
