In a "all you can eat" environment portion control is very important as well as only going to the bar once. After that it doesn't hurt make good choices. Avoid the pasta, bread and fried foods.1

The best defense against temptation is getting an appropriate number of daily calories and routinely eating things you really like.
Not knowing anything about what's offered on your meal plan, my thought is:
- are there things you like to eat every day.... for breakfast or snack? If so, weigh those to get an accurate calorie count, and let those things form the base of your diet.
- how many calories do you have left and what macros do you need to get? That gives you a framework for the other choices

Best of luck!1
