My body is playing tricks on me!

I’ve decided to restart the “journey” and logging my meals again. It feels different this time. My appetite is working differently for sure.

I generally tend to need to eat on a regular schedule at regular intervals. I go from stomach growling to hunger pangs to queasiness to low energy when I am hungry.

I thought I had gotten pretty good at recognizing my hunger cues, and eating based on those.

Over the past few months, maybe even a year, my body has changed some. I no longer feel queasy if I don’t eat within about 90 minutes or walking up (a general hunger cue for me). That’s good, because if I get a slow start, I have a longer buffer for breakfast!

On the flip side, I notice those hunger pangs and start feeling queasy or hunger pangs a lot more often than I had them in the past. Sometimes shortly after eating. I try to eat slowly, and I eat extra slow when eating meals with people. So I should have plenty of time for my body to process fullness, I rarely finish eating in shorter than 30 minutes.

These feelings are pretty scheduled:
1115pm
2pm
430pm
530-6pm
930-10pm

What has been weird over the past week, the feeling has actually gone away without me doing anything. This did not happen in the past. The feeling would get worse, and I would eat something based on what was in the meal and what craving I had. Sometimes carbs, sometimes protein, sometimes fiber, sometimes fat.

So now I am so puzzled about what is a hunger cue, and what is something else. I have no idea anymore. My body seems to be sending up false cues for no reason!

Anyone else have similar issues?

How many calories are you eating (and how many lbs per week weight loss did you choose as well as how many lbs you have to lose)?

Wht are your carb, protein and fat percentages? Do you exercise? If yes, do you eat any of those earned calories back? Did you cut any foods or macros out completely

Personally, I feel that way if I dont have a balance of carbs, fat and protein, if I don't have enough fiber and if I don't drink enough water. It can also happen if I eat too many carbs and/or not enough calories.

My goals are currently 45% carbs, 30% fat, and 25%.

Actuals are plus or minus 5% most of the time. And generally I end up with slightly less protein and more fat if I am off.

I am not cutting out anything but I try to limit added sugars - unless something sugary seems good.

My general philosophy is I should only have "treat foods" if they are delicious. If it is bad cake don't bother.

I try to limit stretchy foods by skipping starches for 1 meal a day to keep me closer to my carb goals. But it is something loosely enforced. I try to keep breakfast "low carb." And play the other meals by ear. If I haven't had enough of them during a meal, I put it in a snack. Insufficient carbs is a common hunger trigger for me. Even if I have eaten a ton of protein or fat.

I am eating around 1700 calories now and eat back 20-50% of exercise calories depending on how I feel and what sort of exercise I do. At the moment I am not exercising a lot but generally bike a lot during the weekends. Weekends have more activity and different eating patterns.

This pattern is typical for a weekday with predictable amounts of exercise and food schedule.

I don't have a firm number that I am trying to lose, but definitely 20+ pounds ans I have those to spare. I also have thyroid issues that impact all sorts of things.

My goal right now is to see if decreasing calories works now or not. (It doesn't when my hormone and thyroid levels are off).
