I know your actual stomach doesn't shrink but does your appetite shrink after eating less?
How long does it take?

My appetite has shrank. I can not tell you exactly how long it took, but 9 months in to changing my eating I can not eat nearly as much as used to.

Yeah, I'd agree with the appetite change too.

Over time and with making changes that I was happy to live with my way of eating and the amount I felt I needed did adjust. I guess that is why it's pretty standard to suggest to those coming to the forums first up to make small, incremental changes as they go...nothing too drastic otherwise it can feel like a bit of a slog.

If you are struggling with hunger try adjusting your Macros, most people find hitting their protein first, then fats and letting the carbs fall where they will help them with hunger....use yourself as an experiement.

    Good luck.

Habit rules  I've taught myself now to only eat 4 times a day and don't snack. In the past I would eat just whenever and whatever (have to say probably that I've never been obese or even much overweight but regardless). Now I just don't think about food untill my next meal. It just takes a bit of time and consistency to create new habits.

Great question! You were able to articulate what I'm experiencing, and what I thought was reduced hunger. About two months of reduced calories and I seem to be less hungry. Perhaps it is reduced appetite, or maybe I'm eating more filling things, and making better food choices .

My appetite has diminished. There are still "hungry" days when I mindlessly eat but more often then not I feel satisfied

It takes me about 2 weeks after going back on a deficit for the appetite to adjust. When coming off the deficit, though, it adjusts far more quickly - two or three days of eating more and I'm back to being hungry. Don't know why that's different.

50 days in and I thought I'd make a cheat meal and make indomie. I usually eat two packets to be full before I lowered my calorie intake, but felt that it was way too much this time around. So it definitely does shrink!

I have also found other foods as well that substitute really well and makes me feel far more satiated, even with low calories, like oatmeal. So I don't know if I can say that it's an appetite shrink, but I don't feel as hungry anymore with eating oatmeal as compared to eating rice.

I think I read that stomachs do stretch and shrink but not really that much. And I'd say my appetite has increased as I've lost weight, down 60 some lbs now. I credit periodic diet breaks with being able to feel sated while maintaining a deficit.

Appetite isn't physical dimensions of stomach so much as emotional and psychological

Hunger "pangs" are often transient which is why a 20 minute walk rather than immediately snarfling more food is a good "mind trick" ..if you're still hungry when you come back then eat something
