Health Issues Because of Weight

Found out recently there are problems with my liver and my gallbladder. I was told the liver could probably be handled by exercise and nutrition. I've already lost 10lbs prior to recieving this news. Just feeling overwelmed at how far I still have to go. I don't feel very good a lot of days, which makes going to the gym very hard.

Sorry you aren't feeling well but the good news is that weight loss is all about CI-CO. Exercise is great for overall fitness but eating at a deficit will get you where you want to be weight wise.

Invest in kitchen scales and use them for everything that you eat, weigh in grams using reputable data entries on MFP such as the ones verified by USDA.

Try not to feel overwhelmed, you are doing the best you can. Get in touch with a dietition to help iron out any issues you feel unsure about. Other than that read all you can on MFP and keep on trucking. You didn't put the weight on overnight and it won't come off that quickly either, so patience is key.

    Good luck.

Well at least you have your "why" - a lot of people cannot stay focused on their weight loss goals because they don't really have a good reason/motivation for losing weight. You have a medical need to lose weight- you want to feel better and live longer, I think that's a pretty good goal to keep you going. I find health is often a better motivation than aesthetics.

You don't need to go to the gym until you feel good enough- weight loss happens from being in a caloric deficit, not from exercise. Exercise can be helpful and improve health, but if you're not feeling up to it yet then try just going for walks or something easy for now.
  • A word of advice on the liver and gall bladder. I recommend getting plenty of SOLUBLE fiber as it binds with bile to remove it from the body. If gall stones are behind some of your trouble make things like apple cider vinegar, and citrus a part of your daily routine. These aid in shrinking of gall stones. If you feel tempted to do one of the infamous "liver flushes" I advise against that. You never know if one of those flushes could cause a gall stone to lodge in the main bile duct. Gall stones can cause pancreatitis if they block this main bile duct. A long term diet of too many refined carbs and sugars are often behind these types of problems. A diet with a minimal amount of these types of things will pave the way for you to restore your liver and gallbladder health. I
