Low Carb to cut up a little?

I have an event in a week and I'd love to just look a bit more "defined" especially in the abs. Just looking to get rid of a little puffiness/look more sculpted and was told specifically not to spray tan. I've never done low-carb but some people claim you lose a lot of water from your tissue. Not really looking to lose weight. Any thoughts?

If you are looking for a quick fix for a week, I would drop carbs and eat lean meat/veg with moderate water intake. Watch out for hight sodium as well as that can cause water retention. You probably won't lose any fat but you might reduce some water weight and tighten up a bit.
Just a heads up but everyone else will come in and tell you "this is a lifestyle" and you "can't diet in a week".0 -

You'd think that they would understand by now that not everyone here is a bored housewife with self-control issues and a stack of Thin Mints in the closet.
But yeah, the above advice should work well. To add: if you feel like throwing down a little cash, Arimistane is pretty good for helping give that "dry" look.1 -

Thanks for the advice. I am not looking to diet or lose any weight. My BMI is below "healthy". I've actually been flagged on this site for posting my height and weight. I'm just looking to look less puffy. Even if this is only noticeable to me, it will help boost my confidence. This is the first print job I've had since my baby was born and I'm nervous. Totally wasn't thinking about sodium as well since many low carb meats are also high in salt.

I would avoid cutting sodium too much. You are are going to lose water and electrolytes when you cut carbs. Sdoium may get too low and cause headaches, fatigue, moodiness or brain foag, and maybe even nausea/ If you start to feel fluish, increase your sodium, even up to 3000-5000mg per day. You'll still have lost water but your electrolytes will be balanced.
People still say we are losing up to 5 lbs of water weight in that first week even when we are eating 1-2+ teaspoons of salt per day. If it isn't water then it's fat..... Either way, it's low carbers getting smaller.
My guess is it is both.
Dandelion tea can help with water retention too.1 -
