What to do when you mess up

This weekend was the official start of our challenge, and I did not get off to the best start. We had company for dinner on Saturday night, and I tracked every single bite of food and every sip of wine that went into my mouth. The end result was 1,000 calories over my goal for the day! Ouch. This was not good, but rather than beat myself up about it, I decided to learn from my mistake and move on. Yesterday we went on a very long hike and then afterwards visited the local farms to stock up on fresh produce. I choose to look forward with positivity, not backwards. You can drive ahead with your eyes in the rear view mirror, can you? :)

    1. YAY FOR YOU! You logged accurately-- even though it wasn't pretty.
    2. YAY FOR YOU #2! You recognized that the best way to deal with a day of not-so-great-behavior was to learn from it, and move on.
    3. YAY FOR YOU #3: You choose to keep a positive outlook-and that's the biggest Yay of all!

Before I even started 5+ months ago, I knew I needed the occasional "cheat day". I like to eat!
For me days like that aren't a failure. They're part of the journey that make me human.

If I had taken any other approach, I'd have failed quickly, or I'd be constantly be disappointed with myself.

I'm just not a tofu and seaweed kind of person. Maybe I'll get to that some day (I ate cottage cheese yesterday and actually enjoyed it), but for now, I want the occasional doughnut.

I second everything @rosebarnalice said. It takes a lot of people a long time to make these realizations and then live them out. So excited for you!

In my opinion, you have the right attitude. You can't do anything about what already happened. You can only feel regret. You have already taken good steps to rectify the situation. Good job, keep up the great work!
