I sync my garmin connect to MFP and garmin pulls over calories entered while MFP pulls over Garmin's activity calories.

Both net calories in against calories out.

BUT some how Garmin shows my net calorie deficit to be 428 for the day. Yippee

MFP shows my deficit to be 918.

Being an accountant I get the principal of conservatism here so I am going to consider this a pat on the back because I netted 428 (approx) calorie deficit.

regardless MFP shows almost 2x the difference. This is interesting! And to think people trying to lose the weight used to purposely eat those calories back. My Mind is blown because if garmin happens to be the more accurate of the 2 folks were potentially eating 400 kCal per day in excess to their body requirements.

Is it possible that you're set to aim for a deficit of 500 cals/day, and that MFP is saying your total deficit is 918 cals for the day while Garmin is saying that you're 428 cals past the deficit you were aiming for? Those numbers would line up better. (I use FitBit instead of Garmin, so the set-up is different, but this sounds plausible.)

What's your activity level set to in MFP? If you're syncing the Garmin I think it should be set to sedentary as the Garmin tracks the activity.

Garmin also uses a different BMR formula for some devices so the number could be off anyhow by a bit.
