I tried the Daniel Plan 6 months ago and enjoyed the program. I "fell off the wagon" and went back to eating poorly and stopped exercising. I want to get back to it with the help of MFP & some encouraging mates. Anyone up for joining me???

For me it a no no to "diet plans" or anything with the word "diet" in it.. this means some sort of weird eating or restriction or special instructions I will end up not being very happy with..

Oh, his diet is in the bible?

It was a fast he did.

2 "Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 "Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king's delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants"

    Who is Daniel?

Daniel was a Hebrew captive to Nebuchadnezzer, the king of Babylon. He was chosen by the captors to be trained to be part of the government, and as such was to be given "the king's food," otherwise what would be called the best. Daniel requested that he not eat meat that was sacrificed to other gods. They didn't like the idea because they wanted strong, "perfect" people, good looking, healthy and smart in their government. Daniel requested that he try it out and be inspected afterward. They found he had looked better (larger?) after a certain time and permitted him to be vegetarian.

He served several kings, was exceptional, had a spirit of excellence, was gifted in the interpretation of dreams, brave in the face of persecution, and survived a night in the lions den, which he was thrown because he refused to worship the idol of the reigning king, and was found praying to God, as was his usual practice. The officials who plotted against them were instead thrown in, and Daniel was put in the highest leadership position in the King's cabinet.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Daniel Fast. Lots of people lose a ton of weight.

It's just clean vegetarianism, for a time.

my post is being misunderstood.. I do not do anything with the word DIET in the name as in restriction etc. etc. etc.. and and in light of your post, being vegetarian for a time is restrictive for me.

I'm with RoxieDawn on this. I love the book, but my goal is to learn how to eat normally and with health in mind and to continue those habits after goals are made.

With a "diet" or timed plan, I fear I would simply go back to old habits after the weight was lost.

If it works for the OP and who uses it though, hey, do what works for you. :)

Not everyone feels this way. Most athletes that weigh in (think wrestlers or boxers), have to change their eating close to fight time to make weight.

Also most bodybuilders will go through cycles of bulking and cutting, because they need high calories to build muscle and low calories to get lean.

You might be freaked out by the word diet, for other people, diet means, what they are eating for the moment, whether or not it's high or low calories, whether they are restricting or indulging.

    Have a great day!

I bulk and cut as well and I am also a half marathon trainer as well. I have dual goals right now.

I still don't restrict the food choices, I only alter the number of calories to achieve either/or and the only macro adjustment is protein needs.

Been doing this for quite a while, my post was my personal comments on not restricting food choices i.e. to just eat vegetarian etc and I choose to use calorie counting and macros, and not follow a specific DIET plan.. not sure why my posts are so out of reach as in calories in/calories out to achieve a specific goal and learning calorie balance.
