emotional binges

I tend to want to eat my stress away. Do you have any tips on how you handle this?

I've always been an emotional eater, my parents have stories of finding candy wrappers all over my bedroom, and I'm sure my mom found my candy stash in my closet. A few of the things that have really helped me are going to the gym or on long walks when I'm stressed, this gets me out of the house and away from the food. Identifying my triggers, if I ate chocolate when I was upset, I tried to figure out why I was upset and worked on that.

After I started losing weight I also started seeing a psychologist once a week, it definitely has helped. Its been almost 5 months and I can only think of one emotional eating moment since then. Your eating to cope with something that's probably hurting you, I found it best through my experience to start dealing with whatever it is in order to start living a healthier life. I also agree with the first post and try exercising, find something you enjoy doing. It's taken me a few different tries at things but I liked running on a treadmill, I find that after I feel stress free and I also like working out in the morning, it makes the whole day feel easier.
