Maybe stop eating clean and instead eat what you want, in appropriate portions?

Are you trying to be too restrictive during the day? Being restrictive and only eating "clean" food can lead to binging.

It's all or nothing for me. Moderation is an alien term. I am not restrictive with my food intake at all. I eat a lot of the good stuff and then I see something unhealthy and my efforts to eat clean go in vain!

Well it sounds like you had a really good day--just because you indulged in some junk food doesn't mean you completely ruined the healthy part of your day! Be kind to yourself. If eating only clean food is leading you to binge on the foods you miss, then maybe you should try to incorporate those foods you love into your daily intake. For me, it's doritos. I'll let myself have a serving of it--even though I'd rather devour the bag. Then at least I don't feel as deprived. You can do this!! No worries :)

If it helps...I am a total perfectionist and lean towards being restrictive towards myself. I just wrote this little blog post about mindset shifts that helped me move forward and have an easier time with weight loss. Check it out if you think it may help ya! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/jadorade91/view/a-perfectionist-s-guide-to-letting-go-902331

I completely understand that need for all or nothing...but it isn't realistic. You'll never be perfect. And that's OKAY! You are enough. You are okay the way you are. It's not going to change over night, but if you practice being more moderate here and there, after a while it'll be easier. And you'll be a lot more content with life.

I hear ya! I am trying to learn this "moderation" thing everyone speaks of but if feel like I'm trying to learn Mandarin in a classroom :)

I stick with my calorie goals pretty well (even including foods that are less nutritious than others such as candy and ice cream) as long as I am in control of the environment. But take me to a party where I don't have a food scale and I act like it's my last meal on death row. I hope to get better at this in the future.

You've got to figure it out. Be real.take responsibly for your actions. see where you're going wrong and fix it. Mostly..come up with a tasty eating plan that keeps you on track. Start looking for meals you can cook, quick snacks.. tasty things you like that don't make you fee like you're dieting. Set yourself up for success.. And don't put crap in your cupboards that get you off track.

My cupboards are junk food free most of the time. It's festive season here( just wrapped up Diwali) I wouldn't normally go near snacks that I binged on for like rest of the year. I choose my cheat meals wisely!!! But I also have these periods where I'm eating clean say for a month and then screw it up next month. I had a trouble free September and then it started with a pizza in October. I have lost count of the amount of cheats I had last month. I love fruits and vegetables but I also like chocolates and other empty calorie stuff :open_mouth:

If your staying in a deficit then you're not "cheating." I am a healthy eater. We eat mostly whole, organic foods. In the beginning I tried to not have any treats when my family did and that was a huge mistake. I am also a perfectionist so I get that part. But when I let go of my "rules" and just ate the way we normally do (including our treat times) and did not stress over it, I started to lose much easier and it has been a more "enjoyable" journey in terms of my mental health (not necessarily enjoyable having to lose!). Log your food and move on. If you went over, make note and go on. If you didn't go over our calories, then be thankful and do it again the next day.
