Ready to Lose

Hi, it's me. Fat papa.

The past couple of years, a dissertation, a full-time job, and two young children led to a lot of stress eating, poor rest habits, and far too little exercise. I gradually went from my healthy weight of 185/190 up to around 225/230, and I've been there for a couple of years. As one of my many attempts to begin exercising, I downloaded the myfitnesspal app on my phone a while back and then promptly forgot about it.

However, one of my coworkers has lost a considerable amount of weight this summer, and when I asked what he was doing, he pointed me back to myfitnesspal. So I'm in. I logged my daily intake for the very first time today, and it was eye opening what I often consume without thinking about it. I did come in under my calorie goal today though, and I have vowed to be diligent about everything that goes into my body.

Exercise has started again this week with some shorter, moderate hikes with weight. In a couple of weeks, I'm shooting for an 11-mile day trip. My weight has never kept me from activity, but I've let my varied commitments get in the way again and again. It's time to start scheduling more time for exercise and sleep, even if it means going to bed at the same time as my children.

That's me. I just want to get back to a weight that will help me be more active and live healthier all around.

Welcome I'm in a similar situation. Just taking it one day at a time. Keep up the dedication.

    Thanks.

Two days in a row I've come in under my calorie count, and it really hasn't been all that hard.
The only place I've been in the red is on sugars. Need to work on that area.
Tomorrow morning, going to try to get in some exercise for a full hour.
