This sucks, I have been proud until this last week, I'm staying in my calorie zone , but eating
Bryers fudge bars. Tonight 5 of them, ..... I still have calories left , over in fat intake because of 5 cups of Orville popcorn.

Homemade chicken pot pie, and pineapple up-sidedown cake made from scratch with a couple micro brewed beers. Delicious! I'm over on my calories today, tomorrow is a new day!

Japanese food for lunch (with the leftovers as a snack). Pizza and salad for dinner. Ice cream as evening snack. Still going to have a hefty deficit (which will easily cover any misestimations on lunch).

Hey OP, thank goodness you are within your calorie deficit, right, but I get why you are bothered. It's because you binge ate a lot of snacks, right? That's something I would do and that would definitely get me down. It's one reason that I stopped having things like fudge bars in the house. I need a sweet treat just about everyday, but things like 80 calorie fudge bars (even though tasty) do NOT satisfy me. There are times when I just need to be satisfied by a sweet. In those cases, I think it's probably better to have a full calorie version of some ice cream at a normal serving. That's just me though.

Try to eat more nutritious food on a regular basis for optimal health- but don't stress, some cheat type days once in a while won't hurt anything in the long run.

For the future maybe try to find some other ways to satisfy your chocolate craving with something high protein so you only need to have 1 serving to feel satisfied instead of 5

I have a need for chocolate in my life so here are a few of my favorite high protein chocolate treats:

•Clif Builders bar chocolate mint flavor
•Lenny & Larrys complete protein cookies in double chocolate flavor
    •Lenny & Larry's muscle brownie
•Tera's whey grass fed organic protein powder in dark chocolate flavor (2 scoops mixed with 1 cup coconut water)
    •Quia cocoa coconut superflakes cereal
•halo top ice cream (I've not actually tried this yet but it's low calorie low sugar high protein ice cream and I've heard good things)

There's also always the option of fruit for satisfying sweet cravings (though it doesn't quite hit the spot for a chocolate craving).

Also try to get enough fiber in your diet - protein and fiber both help with feeling full and not hungry so you don't over eat on sweets.

Also that's a lot of popcorn too. Both popcorn and ice cream fudge bars are pretty low on nutrition and not very filling- not terrible for snacks but you'll want to eat more real food & veggies, and less snack food for proper health, digestion, vitamins, nutrients, etc.

This reminds me of what I used to eat when I was anorexic- popcorn and chocolate milk. Be careful. That's not something you want to do, believe me.

Five cups of popcorn isn't "a lot", a serving is usually three cups. I feel like that kind of thinking is more dangerous than eating five cups of popcorn. I weigh my unpopped kernels and don't measure in cups so I don't know the exact conversion but I probably eat close to fifteen cups. Whatever 70-100g converts to. Pretty sure it's not been detrimental to my mental health.

I usually eat between 3 - 5 cups of Skinny Pop almost everyday...good stuff! It feels good mentally for me because it feels like I'm eating a lot but the calories aren't too horrendous.
For a chocolate craving, I buy those little packages of Dove dark chocolates. 5 of those is around 220 calories, it's less than the calories for 5 fudge pops, and may be more satisfying for a chocolate fix. Certainly is for me...for good quality chocolate, usually doesn't take much!
Though, I might also suggest looking at your regular meals if you eat 5 fudge pops, the popcorn, and still have calories left for the day. That's a lot of leftover calories for snacks..what are your meals like? Might be binging because you're hungry.

Ah! I have found my people. I also eat around 100 grams a day. Love the stuff.

For chocolate, I recently started drinking Crio Bru in the morning. I make it a little bit stronger than the directions call for. I find a pot full of that, at about 40 calories for the whole thing fills me with so much happiness and perfectly satisfies my chocolate cravings. I get 2 very large cups out of it. I sweeten it with liquid Splenda, top it with frothed 2% Fairlife milk, and sometimes add a few drops of peppermint extract. It makes a great breakfast.

Nothing wrong with popcorn and chocolate milk, they are just foods and have their own nutritional properties.

I personally find popcorn to be very filling. Just about 3-5 cups of popped is my go to snack, and I wish I could have a fudge bar every now and again (lactose intolerant, no can do), which is also filling.

Crio Bru sounds delicious! I just looked up what it is and searched for store locations. They have it at many places here! Woo Hoo!!!!

    Judy,

It's going to be okay. Today is a new day. You're under calories, so you will still lose weight. It sounds like you really love fudge bars and popcorn. Don't deprive yourself and maybe work them into your calorie goals each day, or a few times a week if that feels better to you.

Sorry guys I meant if you're trying to have popcorn instead of real meals it's a problem. I'm sure it's just fine as a snack.

It just reminded me of when I used to try to eat nothing or only low calorie stuff like pop corn or rice cakes... but then would inevitably end up bingeing on sugary stuff like chocolate milk or gummy candies.

5 cups sounded like a lot to me but I guess it's just one big bowl full and it's mostly air so I guess it's not really that much.

I'm not new to dieting - I'm 35 and been dieting off and on since I was in 8th grade. My eating disorder was back in my teens. I'm newer to dieting using CICO/myfitnesspal but it's clear to me this works and if done properly is the safest smartest method.

Just warning against the slippery slope of trying to replace real nutrient rich foods that your body needs with things like pop corn if it's because you're trying to eat as few calories as possible- it will only lead to an unhealthy relationship with food or a binge.

I see a lot of people on myfitnesspal trying to (instead of eat the correct amount of calories) just eat as few calories as possible or too few calories and I can see in their diaries later that day or the next day that it usually leads to a binge of some kind or unhealthy food choices.

No food in itself is bad, I know that.

Presuming that the OP did that is a projection on your part though.

Popcorn is a great snack for a lot of dieters and a lot of people on these boards are likely eating it. As a snack.

I suggest that you take a hard look at yourself and why you might be projecting..

    I...don't see a problem.

You're within your calorie goal. Going over any macro is not a problem. Congratulations!

No, you apologized with a but... and that's what I saw. Because it reminded you of what you did.

    But whatever.

There's no need to be warning about any slippery slopes or eating as few calories as possible in the context of this thread. The OP felt bad because she was over her fat allowance from the popcorn already and then had the fudge bars. What you said in no way addressed her concerns.

I think we all project based upon our experiences. I don't think that requires you take a hard look at yourself. It's something we all do.

    "Binge fudge bars"

Catchy name for the new product line. At least it's honest :/

I totally and completely thought this thread was going to be about a new product line when I first saw it.
