I need advice. I've been weight lifting for almost a year and I don't see any difference. I do have a lot of fat in my upper body and I'm trying to lose fat so I know I won't be seeing real gains. But how should I train? I want to look leaner from my upper body, small waist, less back fat, small arms.should I lift heavy or light just to tone everything? I don't want to look muscular right now from my upper because I want to lose fat... I want the ilusión of a hour glass figure but I have so much stomach fat to lose.. how should I train my body?

    Check out this website:

They've got LOTS of great info.
You'll want to make sure to fuel for workouts and get in lots of good protein afterwards to help your body rebuild those muscles. You have to work out ALOT of lose most of your fat to appear "really muscular" as a woman, typically.

Eat in a caloric deficit and follow an established lifting program. If you have as much fat as you describe, you need to prioritize losing it. Also, it comes off where it comes off and your build is your build. Once you have lost the majority of excess fat you can work to build muscle to optimize your look. Until then, eat less and follow a good lifting program.

Lifting by itself won't do anything to help you lose fat. You still need to be in a calorie deficit, then as you lift you'll retain more muscle and the fat will go.

are you stronger than you were when you started? just curious.

as for how you 'should' train, idk. but fwiw i went the 'heavy' (for me) route and put most of my focus on growing real physical strength. it's pretty darned hard to repeatedly lift weight that is heavy (to your body at least) and not grow the muscles that let you do it.

i started out doing sl 5x5, then i did 3x5 for a while and now i'm on wendler 5/3/1 as a lifting thing, and my focus has always been strength, i.e. whatever is 'heavy' for me and making that number move up over time. at least in my case that hasn't dramatically changed anything. i weigh about the same, and i still wear about the same clothes. i just look a little bit better in them. more streamlined, more sort of compact and more like the different parts of my body belong together. i have more curves and fewer random-looking blobs and fat lumps. i say go heavy, but i'm just speaking from personal enthusiasm.
