Endo diet

I was diagnosed with endometriosis a couple of years ago and even after a laparoscopy I still have a very swollen belly. I'm now considering the endo diet (eliminating diary, gluten, red meat etc...). Has anyone else had success with this?

I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2009. I've never tried the endo diet but when I'm watching my calorie intake I tend to eat less carbs which usually means I look less bloated. I've also noticed that as I've lost weight my endo pain has not been as bad.

Is this more of an anti inflammatory diet? I think it is interesting. I have noticed if I eat les to no gluten, avoid soy and dairy I feel better. Probably not helpful as I have pcos and try to follow the Guidelines for that also low to moderate carbs help me too.

As you have just been diagnosed I would ask your Doctor directly or ask for a referral to a dietician.

Unsure how eliminating these foods would affect endometriosis. Maybe anti-inflammatory, but hard to prove since most of these foods you mention are mostly processed and when people eat better quality foods (fresh, home made) they feel better.

I had adenomyosis - very similar to endometriosis but the overgrowth is contained within the uterus and uterine wall/muscle. I also had fibroids. I tried elimination/anti inflammatory diets and birth control pills but to be honest a hysterectomy was the only thing that cured it. I feel great now! (1.5 years post surgery, kept ovaries). My mom had endo and it was also cured with surgery/hysterectomy after many other less invasive methods were attempted.

I will say that some bloating in my belly was from my enlarged uterus, but once it was removed I discovered that a lot of what I thought was "bloat" was actually just belly fat! Now that I am losing weight & exercising my belly is getting smaller/flatter.

Left is 8 months post surgery so swelling is gone, that's just fat. Middle pic is after 8 months of exercise and clean eating but not counting calories. Right is after 2 months of counting calories/caloric deficit and weight loss, you can see the belly is finally going down.

Still have more to go obviously.

So you may just need to lose body fat?
