I am down 30 pounds since May 17 when I joined @ 1760 per day. I started at 267 and 237 now. At what point do I change my settings? That is 30 pounds in 25 weeks nice and slow. Male 5'10.

I believe that if you are logging your weight MFP gradually reduces your calorie goal based on your current weight.1

The only thing you might have to play around with is your goal weightloss for the week (e.g. .5lbs-2lbs), depending on how much weight you have left to lose.1

If you update your weight under Progress (apps) or Check-In (web/desktop), then MFP will *not* update your goals automatically. MFP will prompt you to review your goals (you can decline), provided you have logged a ten-pound weight difference since the last time you updated your goals.
If you update your weight in the apps or web/desktop version under Goals, then each time you update your weight there, you are choosing to allow MFP to recalculate your goals.

ok I have been 236 since December 12 at my 1760 per day I have lost 33 so far since May. I never go over my 1760. It seems like I must be on maintenance level now??? I wonder if I need to change my settings as I never have. I have dropped to 234 once, but usually stay at 236...1

For comparison, I am 5'8" 55 148 lbs. in maintenance and I will lose weight if I *net* - i.e Calories Consumed (Food) minus Calories Burned (Exercise) - fewer than 1750 Calories per day. I weigh all solids, measure all liquids, and verify all of the food items I log in my Food Diary using outside data sources. My Diary is open if you want to view it.
Are you weighing all solids and measuring all liquids? If not, you might be underestimating your intake.
Are you logging cardiovascular exercise and eating back all or a portion of your Calories earned? If so, you could be overestimating how many Calories you get from exercise.
If you do not use a food scale, I would recommend weighing all foods, condiments, oils, butter, etc. (really just everything that you eat). Use measuring cups to measure all liquids such as milk by volume.0 -

I believe MFP does it automatically for you if you enter your weight on the website under 'check-in'. However, I never trusted that. Every 5 lbs lost I re-roll my settings with both MFP and/or calculators around the web and adjust. If you find yourself stalling out on weight loss for a long period of time it's likely something isn't auto-adjusting and you can simply either re-run the MFP wizard with new goals and your current weight, or use free calculators on the web and plug those numbers/macro percentages into MFP.1 -
ok after a 255 day steak I just reset my settings in goals. I kept the 1.5 loss per week. I'm 5'10 @ 236 so it tells me to go down to 1560 per day, which is 200 calories less. Does that seem right? Seems like a big reduction!!0

Did you keep the same activity level?1
-
yes, exactly... I use a scale too and very meticulous in my loggings. I rechecked the settings but yes, it tells me 1560 now. I would not figure a loss of 30 - 32 pounds would change my allowance so much..0

You don't have to go that low if you don't want to do so. Change to a 1 pound loss per week and check what you get. As you get smaller, your rate of loss should get slower because you don't have as much extra fat to use comfortably without going really low on calorie intake. Slow and steady will get you there.
I never change my calorie intake goal. I found a calorie amount that works for me and just let my rate of loss get slower and slower.1 -
Ok on January 26 I decided to change my loss per week to 1 pound instead of 1.5. That gave me a whopping 1810 per day from my 1760. So far I am just staying @ 236. Which I don't really mind since I'm not gaining. But obviously this is more a maintenance amount for me. I hit 236 on November 1 and still the same. I guess I really need to go down to 1560 and 1.5 per week to see a change...0
